OPERATION CHECK

1. INSPECT INTERIOR LIGHT CONTROL OPERATION

NOTICE:

Perform this inspection with the customize parameters at the default settings.

The interior light control illuminates the lights below.

  • Engine Switch Illumination*1
  • Transponder Key Coil (Ignition Key Cylinder Light)*2
  • Roof Console Box Assembly (Map Light)
  • No. 1 Room Light Assembly
    • *1: w/ Smart Key System
    • *2: w/o Smart Key System

(a) The operations and conditions of this control are described below.

Operation

Condition

Fade in and illuminate constantly

Any door is opened when all doors are closed.

Illuminate for 15 seconds, and then fade out

When any of the following conditions is met, the interior lights illuminate for 15 seconds, and then fade out:

  • The key enters any actuation area around the doors when the ignition switch is off and all doors are closed.*1, *2
  • Any door is unlocked when the ignition switch is off with all doors closed and locked.
  • The ignition switch is turned from ON or ACC to off when all doors are closed.
  • All doors are closed after any door is opened when the ignition switch is off.

Fade out immediately

When any of the following conditions is met, the interior lights fade out immediately:

  • The ignition switch is turned from off to ACC when all doors are closed.
  • All doors are locked when the ignition switch is off, all doors are closed and any door is unlocked.
  • All doors are locked again when all doors are already closed and locked.
  • *1: When the lights are on, if the key leaves all of the actuation areas around the doors, after approximately 3 seconds, the lights fade out.
  • *2: w/ Smart Key System

2. INSPECT BATTERY SAVING CONTROL OPERATION

NOTICE:

Perform this inspection with the customize parameters at the default settings.

The lights controlled by the battery saving control are as follows:

  • Engine Switch Illumination*1
  • Transponder Key Coil (Ignition Key Cylinder Light)*2
  • Deck Light Switch Assembly
  • Roof Console Box Assembly (Map Light)
  • No. 1 Room Light Assembly
  • Visor Assembly LH and RH (Vanity Light LH and RH)*3
    • *1: w/ Smart Key System
    • *2: w/o Smart Key System
    • *3: w/ Visor Light

(a) The operation and conditions of this control are described below.

Operation

Condition

Battery saving

When 20 minutes elapse after the ignition switch is turned from ON or ACC to off and the lights that operate remain on, the lights are turned off.

HINT:

Battery saving control is canceled when any of the following operations is performed before the lights are turned off by the battery saving control. After the operation is performed, the lights remain on for another 20 minutes and then the lights are turned off.

  • The ignition switch is turned ON or ACC.
  • Any door is opened and closed.
  • Any door is unlocked.
  • The key enters any exterior actuation area.*

Interior light auto cut function

When 20 minutes elapse after the ignition switch is turned from ACC or ON to off and the lights that operate remain on, the lights are turned off.

HINT:

Battery saving control is canceled when any of the following operations is performed before the lights are turned off by battery saving control. After the operation is performed, the lights remain on for another 20 minutes and then the lights are turned off.

  • The ignition switch is turned to ACC or ON.
  • *: w/ Smart Key System

3. AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) Turn the light control switch to the AUTO position.

(c) Cover the automatic light control sensor.

(d) Check that the taillights and low beam headlights come on.

(e) Uncover the automatic light control sensor.

(f) Check that the low beam headlights and taillights go off.

4. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK

(a) When the taillights are on (headlights are not on)

(1) Close all of the doors.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(3) Turn the taillights on.

(4) Turn the ignition switch off.

(5) Open the driver door.

(6) Check that all of the lights turn off immediately.

(b) When the headlights are on

(1) Close all of the doors.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(3) Turn the headlights on.

(4) Turn the ignition switch off.

(5) Open any of the doors.

(6) Close the door.

(7) Check that all of the lights turn off after 30 seconds (delay function).

HINT:

Before the lights turn off, if the lock button on the key is pushed after all of the doors are locked, all of the lights will turn off immediately.

5. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK

(a) Turn the light control switch to the tail or AUTO position (and the low beam headlights are not turned on via the automatic light control system).

(b) Start the engine.

(c) Release the parking brake.

(d) Check that the daytime running lights come on.

6. AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK

(a) Check the operation of the automatic high beam indicator light.

Automatic High Beam Indicator Light

(1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(2) Turn the light control switch to the AUTO or head position.

(3) Turn the dimmer switch to the high position.

(4) Press the auto high beam switch.

HINT:

If the auto high beam switch is turned on when the light control switch is not in the AUTO or head position, or the dimmer switch is not in the high position, "Auto High Beam Ready Turn ON High Beam to Activate" will be displayed on the multi-information display.

(5) Check that the automatic high beam indicator light comes on.

(b) Check the operation of the automatic high beam function.

(1) At night, when driving the vehicle with the automatic high beam system in standby mode, check that the high beams automatically turn on after a short delay when all of the following conditions are met:

  • Vehicle speed is more than approximately 34 km/h (21 mph).
  • The area in front of the vehicle is dark.
  • There are no oncoming vehicles with headlights on.
  • There are no preceding vehicles with taillights on.
  • There are few streetlights along the street ahead.

(2) At night, when driving the vehicle with the high beams turned on by the automatic high beam system, check that the automatic high beam system turns off the high beams and returns to standby mode when any of the following conditions are met:

  • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 27 km/h (17 mph).
  • The level of ambient light is higher than a specified threshold.
  • There are oncoming vehicles with headlights on.
  • There are preceding vehicles with taillights on.
  • Light from streetlights ahead is higher than a specified threshold.
