Toyota Tacoma (2015-2018) Service Manual: Fail-safe Chart

FAIL-SAFE CHART

HINT:

If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch (ON-OFF button).

  • Problem with stop light switch input circuit
  • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit
  • Malfunction in the vehicle stability control system
  • Communication stop between skid control ECU (master cylinder solenoid)*1 or skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly)*2 and ECM

Ignition switch ON again.

If the following condition occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

  • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) while driving with the dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

  • Vehicle stability control system operates while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed
  • TRAC system operates for a certain period of time while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed.
  • TRAC is turned off
  • VSC is turned off
  • Drive start control is performed

If either of the following conditions occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

  • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) while driving with the dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

  • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly becomes dirty

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Clean Sensor

The condition returns to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).

If any of the conditions listed below occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

  • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly sensitivity reduced because of bad weather such as rain, fog, snow, or sandstorm
  • Brake control by the dynamic radar cruise control system is temporarily unavailable
  • The beam axis of the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is being aligned
  • The forward recognition camera is temporarily unavailable
  • A system check is being performed after the engine has started

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable

The conditions return to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).

  • Vehicle stability control system operates while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed
  • TRAC system operates for a certain period of time while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed.
  • TRAC is turned off
  • VSC is turned off
  • Drive start control is performed
